Bethel WLA is delighted to be working with our course provider (Springdale College) in overseeing the practical aspects of the students church placement and ministry here in Coventry.

Bethel Church.
The Bethel Church began operations in Coventry in 1937, when a group of evangelists set up a marquee on vacant ground in Corporation Street. Subsequent meeting-places included the Friends' meeting-house in Holyhead Road, a new marquee in Leicester Street, and the Y.M.C.A. hall, before the congregation moved into a new church at Spon End in 1940. This, a wooden building, was blown from its foundations during the air attacks of 1940, but was subsequently repaired. (Cov. Eve. Tel. 21 June 1958)

On 9th August 2008, the church suffered a fire which mostly affected the tower area. Subsequently the tower has been demolished and the congregation now meet for Sunday morning services over the road at the Railway Club which can accomodate the growing congregation.

 

To date the teaching and activity buildings have been redeveloped; with an on-going, ambitious and exciting building programme underway.

The Course
Level 1 and Level 2 courses as well as other master class events have been run by the WLA over the last 18 months, with the degree course to start in 2012.

The Springdale course offers a unique and exciting mix of classroom / personal study, plus church placement within a Coventry based church.

WLA BASIS OF FAITH

 

1. The Scriptures.
The divine inspiration and infallibility of Holy Scripture as originally given in both Old and New Testaments, as being in themselves, the word of God and their supreme authority and sufficiency in all matters of faith and conduct. 2 Tim 3:16; 2 Pet 1:19–21; Jude 3; Deut 4:2.

2. The Godhead.
The unity of the Godhead and the divine co-equality of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. The sovereignty of God in creation, providence and redemption. Deut 6:4–5; Gen 1:1; John 1:1; Matt 28:19; Dan 4:34–35; Col 1:16–17; Rom 8:28–29.

3. Man.
The total depravity of human nature as the result of the Fall making man subject to God's wrath and condemnation, and the necessity for regeneration. Rom 3:10–23; Jer 17:9; Ps 51:5; Eph 2:1–3; John3:3.

4. The Lord Jesus Christ.
The true deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, His incarnation, Virgin Birth, real yet sinless man-hood, the infallibility of His teaching, His substitutionary atoning death as the sole ground for redemption from sin, His bodily resurrection, ascension to heaven and present priestly intercession for His people, His literal personal return in glory and power. Acts 3:12–26; 1 Cor 15:1–4; John 3:16; Acts 1:11.

5. Justification By Faith.
The justification of the sinner only by the Grace of God through faith in the finished work of our Lord Jesus Christ. Eph 2:8–9; Rom 3:21–26; 5:1; Gal 3:11; Titus 3:5.

6. The Holy Spirit.
The personality of the Holy Spirit and the necessity of His work in illuminating, regeneration, indwelling and sanctifying every believer, also in ministry and worship. 1 Cor 2:12–14; John 16:7–11; John 3:5; Rom 8:1, 9.

7. The Church.
The one Universal Church, the Body of which Christ is the Head, embracing all the Redeemed, born of God's Spirit. The Local Church being an expression of the Universal Church. Rom 12:4–5; 1 Cor 1:2; 12:12–14; Gal 3:28; Eph 1:22.

8. The Ordinances.
The divine institution of Believers Baptism by Immersion, and of the Lord's Supper in which the bread and wine are but symbols. Matt 28:19; Mark 16:16; Acts 2:38; 1 Cor 11:23–29.

9. The Last Things.
The resurrection of the body, the judgment of the world by Jesus Christ, the eternal bliss of the believer and the eternal punishment of the unbeliever.1 Cor 15:24–26; John 3:17–19, 36; 5:25–29; Rev 20.
